“Travel far enough, you meet yourself.”

Nothing is more exciting than packing a suitcase full of fun clothes and jumping on a plane to a new destination. Of course the first question that goes through every girls mind is, “What am I going to wear?”

Here are a few travel and packing tips to get you going on your next adventure!
-pack outfits. It makes life 100 times easier when you literally only have complete outfit options versus a bunch of random stuff. It also makes it easier to get ready and eliminates the stress of being on time.
-don’t overpack. Easier said than done, but all overpacking does is cause chaos. Do you really need 30 shirts for a weekend trip?
-make a daytime outfit easily transition to a night time outfit by bringing jackets, fun blouses, or a pair of fun going out shoes.
-pack according to weather, plans, and location. When I go home to Seattle I leave my Vegas outfits home because HELLO Vegas and Seattle are polar opposites.

If you need tips on what to wear to the airport here are a few key things:
-layer. you will need a jacket. it gets cold
-comfy shoes, pants, and a baggy tshirt
-a big purse
-headphones

-a book or magazine

When in Doubt..

bun it out!
outfit details:
Jumper - AllSaints Method Sweat
Tank - AllSaints Wreath Vest

Lazy days call for bunhead and black sweats. On days where I feel no need to go out into the world, I often opt for a self-sustaining bun, a flowy tank, and comfy leggings. The bad-ass boots are optional. Sometimes you just need an outfit to watch Netflix in but still resemble like a member of society.

My perfect lazy day starts at 10am. A home-made smoothie to drink while I check my social media. I then like to put some Gilmore Girls on and pluck my eyebrows while snacking on grapes or cheez-its. And then the rest of the day snuggled up in my comfy bed, candles lit, and string lights bright. Give or take a puppy/boyfriend to cuddle with.

Midsummer Night's Dream Closet

Summer time calls out the inner She-Wolf that brews inside of me. The warm nights with the bright full moon, dancing until the sun comes out, concert after concert, late night adventures with unforgettable people. But an unforgettable summer is nothing without an unforgettable wardrobe.

Here are a few pieces I simply won't be seen without this upcoming months.

  1. Romper: What's the laziest thing you can put on this summer that isn't PJs or a tank and booty shorts?? A romper! Think about it, all you have to do is slip it on and bam, you're done. Longsleeve for the slightly chilly summer nights, the halter romper for more of a day look, and the sleeveless for the unbearably hot summer days &what says summer more than a floral print?

  2. Kimono: A Kimono is this summer's response to the winter's leather jacket. It's the perfect throw on for ANY outfit. Put it over a dress, a crop top and high-waisted shorts, bell bottoms and a graphic tee, or even just to wear over your lingerie while lounging around the house.
  3. Wide-Brim Hat: If you're anything like me, I like to keep the sun at bay, hence my werewolf ways. So this summer it's time to break out the wide-brim hat, floppy or firm. Anything to keep that sun out of your gorgeous face!
  4. Open Collar Necklace: The moment I saw Lily Aldridge wear that Marc Alary choker at the CFDA/VOGUE fashion fund I was destined to find one similar for myself! They're perfect for summer and showing off those clavicles.
  5. White High Top Converse: Coming from the girl who probably has over 20 pairs of black booties, something inside of me is screaming for a pair of white high-top converse! Take them to the movies, a park, for some yogurt, downtown for some drinks, or just to grab coffee, they're incredibly versatile. Pairing them with a super chic outfit makes it more casual and gives you a laissez faire approach to outfit making.

Hello Summer.

Every summer has a story...every summer also has essential wardrobe pieces.

Since I am referred to as the mermaid and identify with having an earthy, boho vibe my summer essentials are pretty minimal I like things that I can throw on but still look complete. No fuss is a must and sometimes the standard shorts and t-shirt get old so here are my 5 summer must haves for every girl no matter what your style is!

  1. A Maxi dress; this is a staple for me. I like something I can throw on and go. Maxi dresses offer a no fuss, no thought put together look. Add your own twist either a basic solid color dressed up with a necklace or go for a fun all over print! Whatever you do make it your own.
  2. Birkenstocks! I am obsessed with the jesus sandal look and earthy vibe these offer versus a basic flip flop. These are a must have and once you break them in they only get better. They have a few different styles available but the classic ones are perfection. Add a fresh pedi with bright summer toes and you are set!
  3. A statement clutch! I don’t like big heavy bags for summer I just need something for my keys, chapstick, credit card, and phone. A clutch is a fun easy way to jazz up an outfit so go for a bright color or a print that suits your style.
  4. Sunglasses duh! I love my classic aviators (I have 3 pairs whoops!) Find a frame that suits your face shape and go for classic colors black, brown, tortoise. I splurge on sunglasses because I wear them everyday but if you don’t want to break the bank Target, TJ Maxx, and Nordstrom Rack always have a fab selection.
  5. Distressed boyfriend jeans. I hate wearing shorts all the time. Boyfriend jeans are a fun easy way to stay cool in summer while looking stylish. Add a crop top, your Birkenstocks, sunnies, and grab a clutch and you are golden!

Enjoy!

Style>Fashion

Fashions fade, style is eternal-YSL

Being a stylist and always having my nose in a magazine (currently reading It by Alexa Chung a MUST read for any fashion fanatic). I always hear the same questions, “Whats trendy?” “What is a MUST have for fall/spring?” “Where is the BEST place to get the latest trends?”

Obviously there are certain things for fall and spring that are must haves(followup in our next post) and there are amazing places to always find something but most important thing I can stress is finding YOUR style. You can shop at the cheapest places and have no name brands in your wardrobe and its all about your style and how you piece things together. If you don’t love something don’t buy it, its that simple don’t buy something because you see it in a magazine or see it on a celeb if you don’t absolutely love it. Mixing high and low price pieces is one of my favorite things to do, you don’t have to have your wardrobe scream name brands to make yourself stylish. A few key things to think about while shopping for the upcoming summer season are;

  1. If you don’t love it in the store and are convincing yourself even a little don’t buy it, it will just sit in your closet anyways.
  2. Invest in pieces that you can wear multiple times, don’t be a one time one wear shopper. If its a little more expensive I like to think about at least 5 outfits I can make in my head with that item and divide the price by amount I can wear it so I justify spending the money.
  3. Color is the easiest and one of the cheapest ways to jazz up and outfit. A basic bright color tee, shoe, or necklace can be an easy way to transform one of your favorite outfits. ( I live in black jeans, and ankle boots so adding a colorful tee or blouse spices up my outfits)
  4. FIT FIT FIT if the fit is off in even the most expensive piece you look sloppy and wasted your money. Alterations are so important and usually inexpensive
  5. Be confident. Nothing is more attractive and makes you look stylish and feel amazing than being confident in your outfit

Happy summer shopping.
